H. Adam Harris is a director focusing on heart-forward, textually rigorous, imaginative productions of classics and new work. His directing credits include the world premieres of Heritage at North Carolina Black Repertory and 5 at The Jungle Theater, both by JuCoby Johnson. Other work: Snow White and The Incredible Book Eating Boy at South Coast Repertory; Redwood at The Jungle Theater; Luna Gale and How It’s Gon’ Be with Underdog Theatre Company; Tick Tick...Boom at Chance Theater. He has directed readings and development workshops with IAMA Theater Company’s Emerging Writers and New Works Festivals and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, National Black Theater, Theater Mu, Theater Latte Da, History Theater, and Exposed Brick Theater. Doug works nationally as a director, fight choreographer, actor and certified intimacy director. In 22 seasons at GRSF, Doug played roles including Henry in Henry V, Stephen Price in African Company Presents Richard III and Thomas in Venus in Fur. He directed productions including Hamlet, The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet, Richard III, Cymbeline and Shakespeare in Love. Directing credits include Minnesota Opera, Austin Opera, Kansas City Lyric Opera, Madison Opera and Pittsburgh Opera. Doug was the first intimacy director at the Metropolitan Opera with productions including Grounded, Dead Man Walking and Fire Shut Up in my Bones. Other intimacy direction credits include Guthrie Theatre, San Diego Opera and Minnesota Opera. He choreographed fights for the world premier of Silent Night at Minnesota Opera (which won a Pulitzer Prize for music) as well as productions for companies including Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Kansas City Opera, Children’s Theater Company and the Seattle Police Department. Doug is a graduate of St. Olaf College and the University of Washington.

Some of their recent credits include Production Stage Manager for "La Canterina" & "Der Schauspieldirektor" with UNLV Opera Theater, Stage Manager for "Little Shop of Horrors" with Nevada Conservatory Theatre, & Stage Manager for "All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914" with Four Seasons Theatre. Lonnie Rafael Alcaraz (Lighting Design) is a professor at the University of California, Irvine, where he is the head of the lighting program. He has designed for various regional theatres around the country. Recent designs include Opera Festival on Ice for Bietak Production (Muscat, Oman), Curie Curie for Transversal Theatre Company in Warsaw, Poland, A Christmas Carol at the Denver Center, American Mariachi and A Shot Rang Out at South Coast Repertory, All is Calm at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival; Mojada at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Portland Center Stage. He is the resident lighting designer here at GRSF and has been designing their productions since 2008. He is also an associate artist and resident designer at South Coast Repertory, LORT theatre in Southern California. Brittany Proia (she/her) is an NY based actor, producer, director, composer, and educator. She serves as the executive director of the Hudson Valley Performing Arts Laboratory, education coordinator of Shadowland Stages, and Dramatists Guild Ambassador for Eastern NY. This Fall Brittany is producing the world premiere production of BLOOM BLOOM POW at ART/NY's Gural Theatre. This is her 2nd season at GRSF. Maegan Pate is thrilled to be working as a Costume Apprentice at the Great River Shakespeare Festival this summer! Maegan is originally from Boston, MA and is a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a BA in Theatre and Performance and a minor in Film and Digital Media. Some of her recent Loyola credits include Echo in Polaroid Stories, as well as Associate Designing Into the Woods, and writing and leading The Women in Theatre Ensemble’s: Pretty Little Fools in Loyola’s Second Stage. She is especially interested in devising and adaptive theatre about female-identifying experiences with an emphasis on social change.

Nat Smith is a Costume Design and Technology MFA student. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she moved to Utah to get her undergrad in Costume Design. Nat had the opportunity to design costumes for the Thornton Wilder one act The Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden and for Wendy and Peter Pan as well as many student capstone projects. Through her final year of undergrad and the year following graduation, Nat worked as the wardrobe manager for a small motion picture studio while coordinating costumes for a local high school. Nat is now working on her MFA in Costume Design and Technology at the University of Minnesota.

This will be Benjamin’s 10th season with Great River Shakespeare Festival; notable performances include As You Like it/Orlando, Julius Caesar/Cassius, Midsummer/Oberon, and Romeo and Juliet/Romeo, other theaters include the Asolo Repertory Theatre, Curtain Theatre, St. Petersburg Shakespeare Company, and the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre where he performed Vanya, Sonya, Masha, and Spike/Spike. Benjamin is also a writer and published his first novel, “The River Road”, in 2014; the audiobook of the novel was also produced that same year, which he narrated. As an active martial artist, he is often choreographing fights for both film and theatre. Benjamin teaches acting and stage combat at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles & New York. Geoffrey Douglas is a professor of theatre at Houston Community College where he teaches courses in Theatre History, Dramaturgy, and Script Analysis. He has presented nationally on the digital theatre space, performance of masculinity in sports, and Shakespearean themes in popular culture. This is his first summer at GRSF. When he's not researching or teaching Geoffrey enjoys arguing on the internet about college football and music.

Bridget (Bridg) McCarthy
MENTAL HEALTH COORDINATOR
Bridget McCarthy(she/they) is an artist, advocate, and a mental health coordinator for theatre, TV and Film. She is a Trauma and Resilience Trainer (CTRT), a Certified Trauma Support Specialist (CTSS) with Trauma Institute International, a Certified Mental Health First Aid instructor with the National Council for Behavioural Health, and is currently training with the North American Drama Therapy Association as a Drama Therapist candidate, as well as pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at New England College. Her solo work has centered around programming that amplifies under-heard voices, including time spent as a staff member and facilitator with Shakespeare Behind Bars.
As an actor, Bridget is a resident ensemble member of Stage Door Theatre, and is seen frequently on stages around her beloved chosen home of Atlanta, GA. They have also been on the stages of Atlanta Shakespeare, Synchronicity Theatre, Burning Bones Physical Theatre, Alliance Theatre, Essential Theatre, and Georgia Ensemble Theatre. Nationally, Bridget has appeared with Cincinnati Shakespeare, Elm Shakespeare, Pigeon Creek Shakespeare, and many others. Their original solo show, “Fat Juliet” has toured nationally and features Bridget’s love of stand up comedy, Shakespeare, AC/DC, and the Lion King.

Jenn Oswald is a Chicago based educator who is ecstatic to be returning to GRSF for her ninth season. An insatiable reader and passionate advocate for educational accessibility, she believes that curiosity should be at the heart of every classroom. Back home, Jenn is a 5th grade classroom teacher. She has previously worked as a teaching artist, facilitating creative writing workshops with Open Books Bookstore and 'theatre for social change' residencies with Northlight Theatre. She also spent five years working with Turning the Page, a west side community partner with Chicago Public Schools, focusing on literacy and family engagement.
Jenn has a M.Ed. in Secondary Education from DePaul University and a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University.

Niffer has been working in the theater for over 20 years. Niffer has taught at five universities and has been a part of 200 productions. Niffer enjoys building, designing and teaching and looks forward to another great season at GRSF.

Doug Scholz-Carlson
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHER
Doug works nationally as a director, fight choreographer, actor and certified intimacy director. In 18 seasons at GRSF, Doug played roles including Henry in Henry V, Feste in Twelfth Night and Thomas in Venus in Fur and directed productions including Macbeth, Richard III, Cymbeline and Shakespeare in Love. Doug was the first intimacy director at the Metropolitan Opera working on 6 productions including Fire Shut Up in my Bones. Other intimacy direction credits include Guthrie Theatre, San Diego Opera and Minnesota Opera. Directing credits include Minnesota Opera, Madison Opera, Pittsburgh Opera and Park Square Theatre. He choreographed fights for the world premier of Silent Night at Minnesota Opera (which won a Pulitzer Prize for music) as well as productions for companies including New York City Opera, Kansas City Opera, Children’s Theater Company and the Seattle Police Department. Doug is a graduate of St. Olaf College and the University of Washington.

TONIA SINA
INTIMACY CHOREOGRAPHER
Tonia Sina is the first ever Intimacy Choreographer and created the term in her master’s thesis at VCU. Along with teaching workshops internationally traveling with her service dog, Daphne Rose, she has choreographed intimacy at the Chicago Lyric Opera, Stratford Festival, Marriott Theatre, and will work with Guthrie Theatre next. Featured in the NY Times, the LA Times, The Washington Post, American Theatre Magazine, CBC Radio, Huffington Post, and hundreds of other publications and podcasts, Tonia has been researching Intimacy for the Stage and Sexual Harassment in the industry since she began research for her thesis in 2004.
Also a playwright and performer, Tonia is a soon to be triple kidney transplant recipient and rare and chronic disease patient advocate and national motivational speaker. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she studied movement and earned her MFA in Movement Pedagogy with a specialty in Intimacy for the Stage.

Santiago Sosa, moved to the United States from Ecuador after he graduated high school; earning a BFA from Texas State University and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin. He has worked at American Players Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Writers Theatre, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, NashvilleRep, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Muse of Fire Shakespeare at Sloss, Door Shakespeare, Forward Theatre Co., Definition Theatre Co., Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Nashville Children's Theater, Studio Tenn, Shakespeare Rep, The Theatre Bug, and From the Branch of which he served as its artistic director for 6 years; directing over 15 productions that toured to over 100 cities around the United States. After grad school, Santiago moved to Chicago where he worked in theatre, commercials, voice overs, and print work while training in comedy at The iO Theatre. He served as an artistic associate of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival (NSF) for 4 years; working as an actor, director, fight choreographer, voice and text coach, and the Apprentice Company Director. When not working at NSF he also served as an adjunct professor, teaching Shakespeare, Period Styles, Voice and Diction, Advanced Voice, Stage Combat, Beginning Acting, and Theatre Appreciation at Vanderbilt University, Middle Tennessee State University, Lipscomb University, and Belmont University. He served as the Fred Coe artist in residence at Vanderbilt University, twice, (2016, 2019) teaching Shakespeare and directing a production of A Shayna Maidel (2016) and Twelfth Night (2019). Since 2016, Santiago has turned most of his attention back to directing after an eight year hiatus from the director’s chair. In 2017, he helped start a Shakespeare program at The Theater Bug with the artistic director, Cori Laemmel, for students age 9-19, teaching workshops and directing full length Shakespeare productions. In the fall of 2019 Santiago moved from Nashville to Lawrence, Kansas where he began working as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice and Movement at the University of Kansas. In 2021 he wrote, adapted, and devised Musings of Fire, a co-production for KU and the Island Shakespeare Festival. In the fall of 2021 Santiago took a new appointment as an assistant professor of Voice and Movement at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Vanessa Morosco

VANESSA MOROSCO (she/her) is a multi-hyphenate theatre practitioner who focuses on the intersectional spirit of collaboration through an ethical framework. As an actor, she has performed at theatres across the country, including Shakespeare Theatre of DC, Yale Rep, Geva Theatre, American Shakespeare Center, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Folger Shakespeare Theatre, and Cleveland Playhouse. As a director, she has created productions for several theatres, including the American Shakespeare Center, Harlem Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, and Palm Beach Dramaworks, and she is an ongoing collaborator with Clutch Productions in New York, developing new plays by female-identifying playwrights. Vanessa is the co-founder of IMPACT DRAMA, where she consults for multinational corporations to create drama-based content for use in training and development, focusing on global diversity and inclusion, unconscious bias, and cultural awareness. A recent Theatre Arts Studies graduate of Brigham Young University, Hannah is excited to be back in Winona as the Box Office Manager and as an assistant director/instructor for Shakespeare for Young Actors. This is her second consecutive year with the festival. She previously performed in Shakespeare for Young Actors ('17, '18), Callithump! ('17, '18), and opened for Greg Ivan Smith doing stand-up comedy at No Name Bar ('19).

Aubrey is an actor and voice & text coach from Lawrence, KS. She is a recent graduate of The University of Kansas in Theatre performance and Spanish. Previous work includes voice & text coaching for "Musings of Fire" (2021) at The University of Kansas, in production with Island Shakespeare Festival, and "Measure for Measure" at The University of Kansas (2022).
